I am over 6 feet tall and there are times that I really need an extra large sleeping bag. I like to spread out and be comfortable. I don’t want to be restricted by a small sleeping bag. Forget mummy bags if you like to move around clutch a pillow or a teddy bear. While I like light weight sleeping bags, I value my comfort more. Extra large sleeping bags are more commonly “long”. I have tried to sleep in my wife’s regular sleeping bag that fits people up to 6 feet and it just does not do it for me.
Over the years, I have collect a fair number of sleeping bags. I like ’em wide and deep. I have owned Kelty, REI, LL Bean, Western Mountaineering, and Sea To Summit. They have all been great bags and very comfortable to sleep in.
You don’t have to sacrifice comfort. There are plenty of high quality extra large sleeping bags that will fit you just fine. Kelty makes 2 models that are extra large, warm, and very comfortable. They are called the “Galactic” semi-rectangular sleeping bags and are made of good quality 550 count goose down.

This Kelty sleeping bag is a good example of a high quality sleeping bag that is large and will keep you warm on the chilliest nights.
